17 Nov November 17, NBA DFS Cash Game Lineup
We find ourselves about 12 games into the 2016-17 NBA season. Certainly not long enough to claim trends to be definite, as we still have coach’s still figuring out their starting-five and the rotation behind them. We still have some major players coming back from injuries, coincided with the injuries taking place to active players due to the rigors of the game. Nevertheless, with all teams playing about a dozen games thus far, we can feel pretty confident on some early consistent trends. Having a better grip on team’s rotations and minute distribution allows us to comfortably generate cash game lineups.
Let’s get it rolling this evening, which features a small five-game slate. With a subsided player pool, most of the field will have very similar roster construction without the plethora of options to differentiate themselves like on a 11-game slate for instance. With that being said, play lightly tonight especially if you are not 100% comfortable with your lineup. It would be beneficial for you to swap one or two guys out of these lineups so that if these fall right on the pay-line at the end of the night, you may then find yourself slightly ahead and not splitting the pot. Lastly, some DFS players find that on these smaller slates it is better to go a bit heavier on GPP’s (guaranteed prize pool tournaments), and less on your cash games.
You may wonder why there is zero exposure to the three top priced options (Harden, Lillard, Antetokounmpo). James Harden is just too pricey at $11,700 on FD, and $12,400 on DK, where he would have to hit about 60FPTS to hit value, whereas players like Wall and Butler have showed 60FPTS upside over their last few contests. One of the best on-ball defenders in Patrick Beverely for the Rockets will play his first game tonight against Portland, which projects this pest of a defender to cover Damian Lillard. His return also means he will pick up some ball handling duties which could decrease the massive assist totals Harden has posted this season. The Greek-Freak sits at an odd price of $9600 on FD and $8900 on DK, where McCollum is about two grand cheaper and can offer the same upside, especially in an up-tempo game versus Houston. Derrick Rose finds his way into these lineups because he will have to eclipse about 25FPTS to hit value. In an matchup against the hapless defender in Wall, he should be able to hit value easily. Some easy pivots to differentiate your lineups would be Towns at C, Carmelo over Wiggins at SF (DK specific), and Ariza/Hood at UTIL. Good luck, and remember DFS is supposed to be fun. Do not put your house on the line just for some entertainment.
