Stromme’s Selections: Spreads and Totals Week 2

Stromme’s Selections: Spreads and Totals Week 2

By: Mike Stromme

Hey! We did pretty good last week! 6-2 against the spread, 2-2-1 with our totals and we didn’t bother with the moneyline. All and all, it was a profitable week! I still can’t believe the Pats were dogs though… That’s free money if I’ve ever seen it! Hell, that game reached 9.5 at kickoff! Nuts!

Anyways, let’s keep this show on the road!

Year To Date:

ATS: 6-2

Totals: 2-2-1

Moneyline: 0-0

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)     48.5

Picks: Bengals +3.5 and UNDER 48.5

Last week, we went against the Bengals on the road and it payed off. This time around, were taking the striped cats in enemy territory; a hostile environment at that. In the three games between these two teams last season, the road team won outright each time, the under has hit in seven of the last eight matchups between these two. I expect great things from A.J. Green and this game will be a tight bloodbath to which the Bengals come out on-top!

Tennessee Titans @ Detroit Lions (-6.5)    47.5

Picks: Titans +6.5 and UNDER 47.5

Not totally confident in the Titans’ ability to win this game outright, but I feel as if they can run the ball, limit the turnovers and keep the game close enough to cover. They will win in time of possession, rushing yards and maybe even the turnover battle. The perfect recipe to cover a spread of nearly a touchdown.

Seattle Seahawks @ Los Angeles Rams (+7)    38

Pick: Rams +7

It’s the first game in Los Angeles in over 20 years, nobody is giving the Rams a puncher’s chance and Russell Wilson is banged-up. In front of 90,000 +, I feel like the Rams will show up in this one. They swept the season series last season with essentially the same team, especially offensively. The Rams aren’t as bad as they looked in San Fran last Monday night, gimme my Rams!

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns (+6.5)    42.5

Pick: Browns +6.5

Personally, I don’t think the Ravens are that good of a team. And, I’m certainly not of the belief that they should be laying nearly a touchdown on the road in a divisional matchup. I think Josh McCown is a better fit at QB for this team, Gary Barnidge is going to have a day and Duke Johnson might as well. Cleveland was a blocked field goal on Monday Night Football away from sweeping the Ravens last season, they’ve also won their last two home openers outright. Famous last words of any gambler, but gimme the Browns!

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings (+3.5)    43

Pick: Vikings +3.5

The Vikings stole the division away from the Packers last season, they walked into Lambeau and took the North from their cold, dead hands in Week 17. In this primetime matchup, everybody and their grandmothers are taking the Packers, I’m going the other way. I think the Vikings are the better team, they will repeat and in their first game in the new stadium, I think they get it done under the lights! Sam Bradford getting the start over Shaun Hill can’t hurt either, SKOL!

New Orleans Saints @ New York Giants (-4.5)     54

Pick: UNDER 54

Football fans remember back to the last time these two saw each other in New Orleans and remember the 101 total points scored in, what might have been, the most entertaining regular season game of the year. Don’t expect a repeat. Drew Brees averages 300+ yards/game under a roof, he averages around 250 out in the elements. I like what I saw out of this improved Giants defense, the Cowboys dominated the time of possession battle last week and only scored 19 points. There’s rain in the forecast as well, I think this game will be a disapointment from a fantasy/DFS standpoint. Keep digging on that under baby!
