23 Jul The Big Three’s OF Baseball
The unspoken rule of threes has always been an underlying theme in the sports world. The three musketeers, the big three in basketball, and every comedy movie it seems. But trio’s in baseball don’t get talked about much. lt would mostly be your 3, 4, and 5 hitters sometimes even your 2, 3, and 4 . This is based just on hitters and not pitchers. And hitters that mostly bat in the top half of the lineup. Well, here are my top big three’s in baseball.
1. Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo. CUBS
They have already brought a world series to a city that was starved of one for 107 years. The cubs big three can get on base and hit a ton of home runs. Combined, they hit 85 home runs in 2016. All three have been All-Stars in their careers. Kris Bryant won an MVP in 2016. My top big three in the MLB.
2. George Springer, Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve. Astros
The 2017 world series champs. Springer took home the world series MVP and Altuve took home the regular season MVP in 2017. Bregman is the youngest of the bunch at 24 and might be an MVP candidate in 2018. Look for the Houston big three to run the table in the A.L for years to come.
3. Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, JD. Martinez. Red Sox
The only player 30 or older on my top three list so far, Martinez might be one of the best hitters on the list. His defense isn’t all that strong, but the guy can hit home runs. If Betts continues on the torrid pace he’s been on in 2018, he may end up being MVP. Bogaerts is the glue that holds the Red Sox together.
4. D.J LeMahieu, Charlie Blackman, Nolan Arenado. Rockies
The top three in Colorado might be the best overall hitting and playing defense on the field. This group is a little older D.J is 30 and Charlie is 32, but they play like they’re in their mid 20’s. In 2017, combined they hit 82 homers, 298 RBI’s, and all bat over .300. Look for this group to get the Rockies in the playoffs in 2018.
5. Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Edwin Encarnacion. Indians
The oldest man of the group Edwin, who is 35, has hit 30 or more home runs the past 6 seasons and is on his way to over 30 again this season. This top three has combined to hit for 76 home runs in the first half of this season.. Jose is a top three 3rd baseman in the league and Lindor is arguably the best shortstop. 2 out of the 3 will be around for years and years to come.
Honorable Mention.
Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius, Giancarlo Stanton
Ender Inciarte, Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman
Andrelton Simmons, Mike Trout, Justin Upton
