2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 11

2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 11

Hello Y’all! Hope your weekend is going swell and you are ready to submit those FAAB bids, the waiver claims and those add/drops for the week! I will be writing this article weekly from here on out so come here to find the hot new pickups for those 12 teamer, 15 teamer and only league pickups! Follow me on Twitter @bieryplox33

12 Team Pickups:

Max Muncy, LAD 1b/3b/OF 7% Yahoo: 2018 Fantasy Baseball Faabing Motto: Buy Now, Ask Questions Later. That’s true at least for the popup guys putting up huge stats. Muncy has gone mad of late, punching the ball all over the diamond to a tune of a .917 OPS, and has smacked 7 dingers in 37 games. The Dodgers have a habit of making the most of their talent, so go snag this OBP booster.

Brent Suter, MIL SP, 20 % Yahoo: The Milwaukee lefty is the flavor of the day today, but I am not sure he is worth buying. Avoid.

Jeimer Candelario, DET 3B, 30 % Yahoo: No, not that Candy-man, but this one. This guy is a professional hitter with a premium lineup spot, and he really can make hit (141 wRC+ when league average is 100.) This young bat has some legitimate upside. Buy quickly.

Jorge Soler, KC OF, 43 % Yahoo: This former super high end prospect is finally rewarding his owners. Similar to the Candy-man, he has a penchant for drawing walks, and will provide pop. Snatch these 2 youngsters and ride the hot wave.

Nick Kingham, PITT SP, 23 % Yahoo: The 26 year old farmhand has a had quite a long road to the bigs. Several surgeries later, he has a chance to shine in The Iron City, if the Pirates quit yo-yo’ing the 6 foot 5 Texan between The Minors and The Bigs.

Miguel Andujar, NYY 3B, 45 % Yahoo: This fast rising prospect has delivered in The Bronx thus far, sporting a nice .294 avg with an adequate 6 homers. I wouldn’t expect much more than a .275 BA with 20 homers over the balance of the season, but if that’s useful in your league, go grab/trade for Andujar.

15 Team Pickups:

Nick Tropeano, LAA SP, 10 % Yahoo: The 27 year old righty in Anaheim has 2 superb match-ups this week: Kansas City and Minnesota. He is sporting a 3.8 era and has the MLB’s #7 offense behind him. Go chase wins with the upside for more.

Mike Leake, SEA SP, 11 % Yahoo: After masquerading as a full fledged dumpster fire in April (6.5 era), Leake somehow dodged the tomatoes coming his way at Safeco Field and has performed to the tune of a 3.3 era in May. The surface stats will keep his numbers butt-ugly enough to keep the bids from going too high, but Leake could primed to rip off a run like he had last season.

Frankie Montas, OAK SP 9 % Yahoo: That Kid Frankie has arrived, and must be grabbed everywhere he is available in the 15 team and deeper formats. Since coming over from the Dodgers, Montas has been very useful. Use him this week vs the impotent Royals.

Harrison Bader, STL Of 15 % Yahoo: It’s hard to find power-speed combinations on the waiver wire during this stolen base drought of 2018. In a crowded Saint Louie OF, buy these skills now and figure out the role later.

John Ryan Murphy, AZ C 19 % Yahoo: Over his last 6 games, JR has launched 4 bombs. Catcher is a total wasteland, so go scoop up this backstop in your multi catcher leagues.

Ben Zobrist, CHI OF/INF 25 % Yahoo: Zobrist is a rare bird in the player pool, a batting average boost that can be bought from the wire.  In a world where strikeouts are going up faster than gas prices, latch onto this guys’ .306 BA and ride it out until the PT dwindles. This versatile player can help boost that BA.

Marco Gonzalez, SEA SP, 37% Yahoo: Seattle’s Jerry Dipoto’s thirst for making trades has paid off thus far when he grabed the Former Gonzaga Bulldog Gonzales. Early returns are very positive: 6 Big Wins (!),  a 3.3 Era and an 8 K/9. Fetch this former first rounder soon!

20+ Team (& Only Leagues) Pickups:

Clay Buchholz, AZ SP, 12 % Yahoo: If innings matter in your league, and simply gaining PT is worthwhile, go grab Buchholz, but I’d keep expectations and faab bids very low.

Hanley Ramirez, FA 1b, 38 % Yahoo: Call it nostalgia, call it favoritism, call it whatever you want, but I can’t quit this guy. If HanRam is available, I’d go scoop him up. Worst case scenario you can cut him afterwards, but he brings legit 5 Cat upside in roto leagues, and 2016 wasn’t that long ago.

Ronny Rodriguez, DET INF, 0 % Yahoo: This guy was just added into the game in Yahoo, and should be added onto your AL Only rosters, granted you aren’t cutting anything of use.

Dylan Cozens, PHI OF, 1 % Yahoo: Cozens is a prospect that was very well regarded, and has a similar skillset to a Joey Gallo. I am not sure he will post over a .230 BA full season, but you could run into a hot stretch at first while the MLB is figuring out the giant human.
