2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 14

2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 14

Another week of pickups!

But first, I want to pour one out for a guy near and dear to my heart; Nick Senzel. I am a massive fan of him, and he just suffered a season ending injury. He could be back for the Arizona Fall League, but this is really a bummer.

Follow me on Twitter @bieryplox33 for Fantasy Baseball, NBA or hip-hop (with a dash of corny motivational) tweets.

12 Team Pickups:

Shin-soo Choo, TEX OF, 71% Yahoo:

The train for Choo has left the station, and you should be aboard. The 60th overall ranked player in Fantasy Baseball is available in 29 percent of Yahoo formats.

Mitch Moreland, BOS 1b, 51% Yahoo:

Moreland is hovering around a .300 average, hits cleanup in the BoSox offense, and has some pop to present to fantasy owners. I get he has been bad in the past, but owners shouldn’t hold that against him in 2018.

Shane Bieber, CLE SP, 28% Yahoo:

Biebz has been electric his past 2 starts. He has 22 strikeouts, a 2.45 era, a 1.36 whip in his brief tenure in the bigs. Wins should be abundant for Bieber, in the weak AL Central.

15 Team Pickups:

Jon Jay, ARI OF, 34% Yahoo:

Jay is far from exciting, but he is batting leadoff in AZ, is piling up the runs, fueling BA and chipping in some steals. He matters (some) in the 5 OF format.

Pedro Strop, CHIC RP, 18% Yahoo:

After Brandon Morrow went down, Strop appears to have seized the closer role for the time being. He’s been bomb this year thus far; an era under 2 and a whip under 1 with a K per frame. Add accordingly.

Kendrys Morales, TOR UTIL, 12% Yahoo:

Granted he was absolutely abysmal to begin 2018, Morales has smoked the ball of late (1.186 OPS over the last 14 days).

Gerardo Parra, COL OF 9% Yahoo:

Parra isn’t legit 5 cat guy, but he is fueling batting average (.305 avg), chipping in steals (6) and hitting for a little power (4). In a deep 5 outfielder league, he is an adequate player.

Sergio Romo TB RP, 15% Yahoo:

Romo is finally the closer, go grab him ASAP. I wouldn’t invest a ton of faab, as he maybe either ineffective or traded out of the role, but he’s the guy to get now.

German Marquez, COR SP, 8% Yahoo:

This guy has incredible stuff, and on the road has put up a 3.07 era and a 1.14 whip with over a K per inning.  He’s a half starter, with upside to improve considering his age (23.)

20+ Team (& Only Leagues) Pickups:

Ben Gamel, SEA OF, 1% Yahoo:

Gamel hasn’t received super regular PT, but on the season has an adequate .762 ops with  .290 BA! He is a run producer and will boost batting average in deep leagues.

Derek Holland, SF SP, 3% Yahoo:

Holland has two tough-ish matchups this week, Colorado and Arizona, so be cautious when bidding. He’s been ok, but isn’t anything more than a volume home streamer.

Wade LeBlanc, SEA SP, 21% Yahoo:

LeBlanc is nothing special, which is why he maybe available in those deep leagues. He should be owned in those 20 teamers and AL Onlys.

Happy hunting this week and if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me directly on Twitter @bieryplox33
