08 Jul 2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 16
Another week of pickups!
Follow me on Twitter @bieryplox33 for Fantasy Baseball, NBA or hip-hop (with a dash of corny motivational) tweets.
12 Team Pickups:
Yoan Moncada, 2B CHIW, 67% Yahoo:
Yoan has the skills to win you a league if he gets going, considering his ridiculous power-speed game in the middle infield. Go check your shallow mixer to see if he’s available.
Gregory Polanco, PIT OF 65% Yahoo:
El Coffey started off the year scorching hot, but came back down to earth and his BA fell to horrific lows. Right now he’s hitting again and is available in 35 percent of Yahoo leagues.
15 Team Pickups:
Jordan Zimmermann, DET SP 24% Yahoo:
The Z-Man makes yet another appearance! He’s been scorching of late, and has been very useful for fantasy owners. His past 30 days: a strikeout per inning, with a 1.8 era and a .72 whip! He’s not a stud, but ride him while he’s hot at the moment.
Wade LeBlanc, SEA SP 29% Yahoo:
This guy is the current leader for the Jason Vargas Award, the guy who’s so hot you have to use, but you know will blow up eventually. Go ride him now in the leagues where you aren’t protecting ratios. He could seriously cause some damage, but in the leagues of the right depth or where you just need a spark, use LeBlanc.
Elias Diaz, PIT C 22% Yahoo:
Be careful on your bidding here, as Cervelli is due back soon. But Diaz has posted some very useful numbers thus far: .289 BA. 7 bombs over only 142 AB’s.
Tyler Anderson, COR SP 23% Yahoo:
Anderson is a dangerous player considering he plays half his games in Colorado, but on the road he provides utility in deeper formats: 3.48 era, 1.09 whip on the road. Of late he’s been dazzling, so there’s some legit streaming value here.
20+ Team (& Only Leagues) Pickups:
Jake Cave, MIN OF 0% Yahoo:
Hard to see for most, but Cave has some potential to produce in a Minnesota lineup that needs a little spark. The Former Yankee Farmhand has been solid thus far, providing some power punch and batting average spark.
Dereck Rodriguez, SF SP, 18% Yahoo:
Pudge’s son has been very interesting in ’18, posting a 3.28 era with a 1.28 whip that indicates a slight jump in the era, but he has the perfect home park to help a young arm learning in the big leagues.
JT Riddle, MIA SS, 1% Yahoo:
Not Edward Ngyma, but this Riddle is an enigma, as he remains available in 99 percent of Yahoo leagues despite popping 5 bombs in limited playing time with a league average BA.
