2018 Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Guide–Week 20

        Another week of pickups!

12 Team Pickups:

Harrison Bader, STL OF, 7% Yahoo:

Bader is a power speed threat, and with his newly found playing time, could production in 5 categories. He has a respectable .343 OBP and should run a lot with non-zero power. Over a full season, I’d expect 12-14 HR’s and 25+ SB’s, and that’s a very nice player in today’s speed starved environment.

Jonathan Villar, BAL 2b/OF, 39% Yahoo:

Villar (only 27 years young) has been traded into a good situation for PT and is hitting leadoff for Balty. He could provide ridiculous speed totals, so go grab him now, if you need a spark.

Tyler O’Neill, STL OF, 7% Yahoo:

O’Neill is a premier power threat, posting a sizzling 1.099 at Triple A this season, and appears to be in line for lots playing time considering the depature of Pham and Fowler from the everyday lineup. O’Neill also sneakily can provide some speed, since 2015 in the minors he has posted the following SB totals: 16, 12, 14. If he can continually top double digit SB totals in the big leagues, that will really help his value.

15 Team Pickups:

Johan Camargo, ATL INF, 23% Yahoo:

Triple eligibility, decent power, a decent BA, all traits Johan has to help your fantasy club. Carmargo has a 118 wRC+ and has gone from a 4.7% BB rate in ’17 to an 11% BB rate in ’18. His skills growth seem real, as he lowered his K rate while raising his BB rate. Slot him into a MI spot, or reserve him to give you flexibility considering his multi-positional eligibility.

Robbie Erlin, SDP SP, 1% Yahoo:

Erlin has been UNBELIEVABLE this season: with a 54:7 K to BB ratio this year, posting a 3.34 ERA and a .94 WHIP over 64.2 IP. Erlin ranks as the #196 player in 5×5 roto.

Nick Williams, PHI OF, 12% Yahoo:

The Phillies’ former high end prospect has been providing value to his fantasy owners searching for pop. Williams over his last 14 days is hitting: .340/.404/.553 with three home runs and six RBI while placing in the middle of the order. Buy him if you need a competent power hitter with upside.

German Marquez, COR SP, 22% Yahoo:

Since his June 20th start at the Dodgers, Marquez has been mowing down the opposition: he has 4 wins, a 45:8 K to BB ratio to pair with a 2.95 ERA and a .91 WHIP over 39.2 IP. The 23 year old could be turning a corner in 2o18.

Jake Bauers, TB 1b/OF, 27% Yahoo:

Bauers has been a decent fantasy commodity thus far, and lately has been hotter than normal (past 14 days) posting 4 homers, 2 steals, 7 runs and 10 RBI to pair with a bad .222 BA. If he’s out there in a 15 teamer or a deep 12 teamer, I would buy this multi-positional power-speed threat.

20+ Team (& Only Leagues) Pickups:

Steve Pearce, BOS INF, 18% Yahoo:

Pearce has been hitting the snot of the ball in Boston lately, and holds more value in daily leagues as he doesn’t play every single day. Buy him in the deeper leagues if he is out there.

Ramon Laureano, OAK OF, 0% Yahoo:

Ranked #327 on the Great James Anderson’s amazing Top 400 List, the Oakland OF is in line to play as their OF has been brutally depleted due to injuries. Laureano has hit for a sizzling .904 OPS in Triple A.
